A lighting revolution: Dual UV-A and white lighting 

The main strength of the BABBCOVISION lies in its non-simultaneous, dimmable lighting system. Inspecting a complex area often required choosing between different lighting options.
The BABBCOVISION combines both:

• Ultraviolet radiation (UV-A 365 nm) transmitted via silica fibre, ISO 3059 certified, ideal for revealing fluorescent indications (penetrant testing, magnetic particle testing).
• White light (4600K) via optical fibre, offering an excellent colour rendering index (85/100).

Ergonomics and durability

The BABBCOVISION is fitted with a 6 mm diameter probe, featuring a tungsten-coated, waterproof (IP67) design. The articulated camera head is controlled with precision via a joystick. The control unit features a high-resolution 5-inch touchscreen for crystal-clear photos and videos.

The SGH08 pictogram is often a source of confusion. This symbol, which comes from the UN's Globally Harmonised System (GHS), indicates a serious health hazard. However, it does not necessarily mean that the chemical you are using is ‘CMR’ (Carcinogenic, Mutagenic, Reprotoxic).

A product labelled with SGH08 is therefore not necessarily CMR. For example, it may indicate different but serious hazards, such as a risk of aspiration (H304), respiratory allergy (H334) or toxicity to certain organs (H370 to H373). Conversely, it should be noted that a product that is genuinely classified as CMR will always be labelled with this pictogram.

To find out the exact type of risk you are facing, it is essential to refer to the hazard statements (H phrases) in the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for your product. If a product does not bear the labels H350, H351, H340, H341, H360 or H361, it is not classified as CMR.

• Evaluation of surface defects and surface finish quality: Replication allows the smallest details of a part's surface to be captured with a high degree of accuracy, including defects such as corrosion, micro-scratches or wear. Once the impression has hardened, it can be analysed in the laboratory using a microscope or other instruments, providing an objective and reproducible assessment of the surface condition.
• Quality control of internal surfaces and dimensions: For parts with cavities, ducts or areas that are difficult to access, surface replication is an ideal solution. The fluid compounds flow into every nook and cranny, creating a faithful replica of the internal surface for easy inspection outside the part.
• Crack detection and metallography: Certain Microset products, such as Microset 202, have a high hardness that makes them suitable for metallography. They can be used to create microstructure impressions of materials, which is crucial for detecting cracks, stresses or deformations at the microscopic level, particularly in aeronautical or mechanical engineering applications.

With this equipment, BABBCO has taken more than 15,000 reference photos of penetrant testing and magnetic particle inspection reference parts!

A mobile version of the system has even been developed for professional ultraviolet photography on customer sites.

Tubular "black light" UV sources are gradually being withdrawn from the market, as they are energy-hungry and contain mercury. They are now being replaced by UV-light-emitting diodes.

Our partner UWAVE has worked to our specifications to produce a mixed UV and visible chamber that offers a number of advances:

• A floor space divided by 4 compared with the previous system,
• Electricity consumption reduced by a factor of 5,
• No need to replace consumable tubes that wear out over time,
• Tightness against UV-A radiation leakage,
• Higher illumination power if required,

This new production tool thus enables a significant action and has been adopted almost instinctively by internal users.
