The KC coupon is a small, chromed metal block, shot-peened on the reverse side, featuring a star-shaped crack pattern. It is used to control the penetrant testing process (liquid penetrant inspection) and can replace Bakelite blocks/coupons. It is reusable and can be cleaned using ultrasonics with a safety solvent. Inspection under UV-A is essential after cleaning to ensure the removal of the penetrant before the next use."
