The old "home-made" lighting system dated back to 2008; it had been well exploited and was even an integral part of an INPI Certificate of Utility that can still be consulted on the INPI website with the n°FR2936066 and entitled "PROCEDE ET DISPOSITIF POUR L'AMÉLIORATION DE LA DÉTECTION, DE LA VISUALISATION ET L'ENREGISTREMENT (PRISE DE CLICHÉS) D'INDICATIONS DE RESSUAGE COLORE PAR AUGMENTATION DE CONTRASTE".
With this equipment, BABBCO has taken more than 15,000 reference photos of penetrant testing and magnetic particle inspection reference parts!
A mobile version of the system has even been developed for professional ultraviolet photography on customer sites.
Tubular "black light" UV sources are gradually being withdrawn from the market, as they are energy-hungry and contain mercury. They are now being replaced by UV-light-emitting diodes.
Our partner UWAVE has worked to our specifications to produce a mixed UV and visible chamber that offers a number of advances:
- A floor space divided by 4 compared with the previous system,
- Electricity consumption reduced by a factor of 5,
- No need to replace consumable tubes that wear out over time,
- Tightness against UV-A radiation leakage,
- Higher illumination power if required,
This new production tool thus enables a significant action and has been adopted almost instinctively by internal users.
Additional services can also be provided, such as UV aging of fluorescent indicator products, which form part of BABBCO technical-commercial offering for customers and internal control.
